MADISON, Wis. - So far, 2010 looks a lot like 2009. Five-set matches and freshmen filling key roles. The Edgewood College women’s volleyball team bounced back from a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-15) loss to 14th-ranked UW-Whitewater to edge Lawrence University 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13) in a thrilling five-set match. The Eagles played a whopping 11 five-set matches in 33 outings last year.

A sixth place finish and a short run to the NAC Tournament semifinals in 2009 gave the Eagles a long awaited taste of success. In 2010, the Eagles hope for bigger and better accomplishments, but the challenge will be great. The Eagles’ season starts with 14th-ranked UW-Whitewater and Lawrence University in their own triangular.

MADISON, Wis. - Rebuilding a program can often feel like climbing the stairwell in a tall building. If you’re fortunate, progress will be slow but consistent. For the Edgewood College volleyball team, the 2009 season was more like hopping in the elevator, punching a button and getting out close enough to see the penthouse. However, head coach Paul Schlomer knows his Eagles still have plenty of flights to climb if they are to ultimately reach the top floor of the Northern Athletics Conference standings.
